We are excited with the progress second graders are making in reading.  We have seen gains in all areas, esp. reading fluency.  In second grade, we are especially working on retelling and summarizing the story.  This is an important part of comprehension.

Some 2nd graders have mastered the 100 math fact problems in the 5-minute time limit! Other students are working on mastering these facts.  

Students are working toward our goal of reading 2,200 books for the Midnight Reading party. Keep reading through the end of March. Each student (individually) is responsible for reading 40+ books to be eligible to attend the Midnight Reading Party. Please remember to sign and return the Book-It slips each month.

If the 2,200 book goal is reached, the Midnight Party date will be set and qualified students will be invited.
