 What I'm Good At

By Johnathan

In the winter or when it’s raining, I like to play my videogames. Even though I like to play sports, I also like many other activities. I am good at videogames, reading, and bugging my sister.

I usually get games that are not off-brand games from the PS2. I usually like playing football, baseball, and basketball games that I usually win on. It’s not very often that I read the instruction manuals for the games, because it is usually easy to figure them out. I even have Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2 and the guitar for the games. I can even play them with the regular controller that I can buy at Wal-Mart.

I can usually read a book that I like in a day, but sometimes it takes a few depending on how many pages it has. I usually read books that are adventurous or mysterious. A book that we just finished reading in reading class, I liked a lot. It was about a guy named Shane. The mom’s name was Marian, the dad’s name was Joe, and the son’s name was Bob. The book was about how this Shane guy road into the Starrett’s driveway thing and asked for some water for him and his horse. Then it gets a lot more complicated from then on.

Now one thing that I’m really good at is bugging my sister. She is really mean if I antagonize her too much. I was eating some graham crackers once and she started eating them. That made me so mad I took them and put them on the other side of my lap, and she yelled at me and told me that she wouldn’t play Sims 2 for our PS2 with me any more. So I said I really didn’t care, although I did. So after she got on our computer, I started to play Guitar Hero and she said she wanted to battle me. First, I said no then let her play because she would have thought of a way to get me grounded for a longer time than I already am. After about and hour and half she quite and got on the computer. Well after that she got really mad.  She started to yell at me for having the sound system too loud or talking too much. So I just turned the sound up louder. Then she called our mom and told her, and I had to turn down the sound or get off of the PS2. I got off and went out to the living room and watched TV out there. That is what made her calm down. Then the fighting was over.

In the winter or when it’s cold, I like to play my videogames. Even though I like to play sports, I also like many other activities. I am good at videogames, reading, and bugging my sister.

                              Talents Help

                                                                                  by Austin

Talents can help with lots of things. Although I am bad at many things, I can do many things great. I can play basketball, World of Warcraft, and I am funny.

With basketball I can pass like a maniac. Although it is as if I am blind and don’t see open people a lot I make good passes. The point guard hardly looks left because they are right handed. I play wing so I get a million chances to pass. I love to play wing, it is so fun!

In World of Warcraft I own at player versus player. I own like there is no tomorrow. In player versus player it is like capture the flag. Ten players on each team will charge the others flag. The horde and alliance are the team names. I like the alliance. The alliance almost always loses. The flag room has so many passages it is like a maze. I get the flag the most and I get tons of virtual kills. People practically praise me with my greatness in player versus player.

Lastly my friends think I am funny. They say I crack jokes left, right, up, and down. I am almost always sarcastic. I am also crazy like a fox they say. I love being wild but not too wild or it would make me look weird.

My talents serve me greatly. I am still bad at things, although basketball, World of Warcraft, and funniness are my things.

 My Talents

by Grant

What makes you unique, gives you something to do, it might even be counting to two.  You guessed it, it’s your talents.  Do you have special or unique talents?  Well, I have three. I play the trombone, enjoy to create art, and I have “car smarts.”

First is the trombone.  I play a two-tone Getzen trombone.  I play it in band and last year I even got to go to Band Olympics. I played the song Caprice.  It was really fun to go to Band Olympics for my first year and win first place. It felt like getting up on stage and winning a Grammy Award in front of thousands of people.

Next, I enjoy making art.  I really love to draw and let out all my feelings into my art.  Sometimes it is like the paper and art supplies are calling to me, begging me to use them.  Most of my art is abstract.  I love the fact that in abstract art it can be whatever you think it is.  No one can tell you what it is; it’s just your opinion.  I also love drawing things out of the ordinary, like drawing basic shapes and making them into houses, cars, and even animals.

And to conclude, I have “car smarts.”  I love new cars and the concept cars coming out in the future.  I also can tell you anything about any cars, gas mileage, prices, and even reliability.  My friends say that I’m crazy, but it’s just another talent or you nay even say hobby of mine.  If I don’t have anything to do, it’s like my Consumer Reports magazine or even the computer calls to me, begging me to come do some car research on it.

Even if your talent is counting to two, it makes you feel special that you have a talent of your own.  Maybe counting to two isn’t my talent, but playing the trombone, creating art, and having “car-smarts” are, and they all make me feel very unique.

Talents

I was so pumped for that game all my hard work in practice comes down to this. I would have never guessed I could have handled pressure so well. I was so pumped I couldn’t stand still.

First Jonsey got the tip-off, Micky jumps, and got the ball passed to me for a lay up. 2 to nothing. #5 dribbles down the floor and we find our girls and now defense. Coach Peterson is screaming from the bench to Micky “DON’T REACH!” The whistle blows and the ref says “fouls on 2,3 for a slap.” Jim puts Shyann in and reminds her not to reach. Then it goes to the opposite wing as me, Kelsie is on defense and almost denies the pass. It goes to the high post and Taylor  doesn't let her shoot or pass to low post! It goes to #11 my girl. She tries to dribble to the basket but I stopped her and she passed it off.

Shyann was playing defense and a player came to screen her but Jess let her no it was coming. So Shyann was able to fight around it. She passed it to #44 the low post but Emily didn't let her shot or square up the 2 things she hated. She had to pass it back out. Then it went to # 15  and Tressa was playing defense on her and she didn't allow her to shot so 15 passed it out to Jessie's  girl #12 and she shot it hit the rim Emily got the rebound and gave it to shyann she dribbled it down and passed it to jess for a lay-up.

The last quarter was the best and the starters were back in Micky, Kelsie, Me, Taylor, and Halie we had  ball first and we ran line to get it in and Halie scored. #5 dribbled down and ran a good play that got us. BAD! 4  people on 1 side and the closest one screened for #5 and she did a lay-up behind us cause the others pulled us out by the 3 point line. With 58.3 seconds left we scored and won the game 32 to 28.

That was the greatest game ever!!! We won by 4 points! We beat Gothenburg!! I was so happy! I was so ready to beat them!!!

The Winning Shot

by Shyann

That shot was the kind of basket that you only make once in a lifetime.  We won the game. I love basketball. Between teammates, shooting, passing and the uniforms basketball will always be my favorite sport.

One of the many reasons I love is because of your teammates. When you have a team that gig you’re bound to have many friends. Weather there you best friends you’ve known your whole life, or brand knew ones your just getting to know you can almost always look to at least one person to be there. It’s also fun having friends as your teammates because it’s easier to get along, and it makes it ten times easier to play together. When everyone works together you, win together if there’s no team there’s no game. Win or lose you do it all as one.

The second reason that basketball is a sport im good at is because it takes coordination, timing and good memory. Its gets a little hectic when your point and you have to go out an get your team lined up, get in the right position, an yell the play in as little as five seconds! It also takes a ton of coordination to shoot, even if your like Michael Jordan swishing three pointers non stop, or just a 7th grader like me shooting bunny shots an free throws. But you have to admit it takes at least SOME coordination an concentration to get them in. Even the passing takes it! You have to pass that ball to your player and start one of the many plays like presses, inbounds, and the sweeps you practically memories, again there’s where that good memory comes in. If you don’t have very good coordination and memory the other team could steal the ball and make points just like that .It could maybe even cause you to lose the game.

And the last reason I love basketball is because of our uniforms. My favorite part is when the whole team comes out in our soft, bold, black and white jerseys and shorts with the big Broken Bow lettering. I love the uniforms though because there comfy, second because there lose an light, An third because there cool an breezy, buts its also it’s easy to maneuver around in them, especially if you get a steal an your pounding the ball in you hands, as your flying down the court as faster then the speed of light to make the wining point of the game, or to make it even an go into overtime.

That shot was the winning point, it was once in a lifetime, and I’ll never forget it. I love basketball. Between the teammates, shooting and passing, and the uniforms, basketball is indefinably my favorite sport and something I think im good at.
