    Language Arts: Sports Literature Lesson Plans for week of 4/10/2006
    Monday
    questions over "Ex-Basketball Player"  p. 231 and "To An Athlete Dying Young" p. 250 are  due
    2.  Begin watching the video "Brian's Song"
         -Journal Entry #21: compare and contrast Brian Piccolo with the athletes in Updike and  Housman's poems
    Tuesday
    1.  "Brian's Song"
    2.  if the video is over by the end of the class period, give students time to finsh journal
    entries
    Wednesday
    1.  class time to finish journal entries
    2.  journal entries are due at the end of the class period
    Thursday
    2:00 dismissal
    1.  students read "Fathers Playing Catch with Sons" pp. 258-260
    2.  students answer questions on page 261
    3.  written answers due at the end of the class period
    Friday
    No School--Easter Vacation
    Outcomes Met:
    12.1.8 compare and contrast characters and events in sports literature with one's own
    experiences through journal writing.
    12.3.1 use speaking, listening and viewing to enhance comprehension.
    12.2.2 at the 11th grade level, develop organization, ideas, word choice, voice, sentence
    fluency, and conventions.
