STUDENT WRITING:
My Christmas Break
by Destry
Even though it was short, we had a lot of fun. My favorite presents were guitar hero 3, a water dragon, and an ak-47 air soft gun. I have had a lot of fun with them all. This Christmas break was the best so far.
For Christmas I got some great gifts, here are three of my favorites. My first favorite was a water dragon. It’s like an iguana, only it doesn’t grow to be as large and it’s much nicer. The iguanas sometimes whip you with their spiky tails and can also bite. My mom thought that wouldn’t be a very good present if it were to turn out like Godzilla, or something. The water dragon is a jungle green and when the temperature changes his color changes slightly. I named him Mojo, but I don’t know why. The food he eats is mealworms, fruits, crickets, and salads. The mealworms remind me of some gross-wormlike-aliens that just so happen to sell for $6.00 for 50. We also ordered crickets off the Internet, but we ordered the wrong size so we had crickets that were the size of some cell that you would find in a science book. My mom makes me wash my hands after every time I touch him, because he supposedly has “salmonella”. I’ve always wanted a lizard, ever since way back when I was five years old. We were at a county carnival where you could win an iguana, but my evil mother wouldn’t let me play the toss-the-ball-into-the-cup game. It was proubly a good thing, because we wouldn’t have had any of the supplies needed to take care of him. Mojo died a few weeks after I got him because you were supposed to cut the heads off the ferocious mealworms. The mealworms can eat the lizard even after he ingests them, which may have been why he died. Then I got a bearded dragon, which is like a desert type of lizard. Now I know a lot more of how to take great care of them and to make sure he doesn’t end up like the water dragon. He’s yellow with brown wavy lines along his back and sides, and he is tamer than Mojo. I named him prickles and he is still alive to this day.
My second favorite gift was Guitar Hero 3 with a play station 2. It’s really fun, even for my mom. The guitar is red and it gives you stickers to put on it wherever you want. Everyone plays it except for my Dad who claims it’s much too hard for him. He’s sort of like my grandpa since he doesn’t understand any type of video games. My mom plays it more than us kids, seems like she only bought it for me so she could play it. The memory card on the Play station 2 got corrupted and we lost all the cool songs, awesome guitars we bought with the money that you earn from beating songs, and everything else we did on the game. Now we have to start all over. It’s not as fun beating it all the second time, although it is as easy as cake. After that we also bought more games for the play station 2.
My third favorite gift was my ak-47 air soft gun. It’s black all over except for the barrel’s tip, which is orange. Its battery powered and the battery is rechargeable. The battery is in the clip. If I were to take the orange tip off, it would almost look like a real gun. My Dad says that if I were to do that then I could get in trouble by the cops possibly. I have air soft wars with my friends, brother, and dad. It really hurts, even for my Dad. It can fire up to 10 air soft BB’s in 3 seconds, although the package said 1 second. I would say in a fight between it and the other guns we have, it would win because of its speed. My brother always says if I want to have a war with him, he gets my gun because he has a shotgun air soft gun, and it isn’t as fast. Since Andrew Pracht lives right across the street from me I can have an air soft war with him whenever I want. Normally if my sisters are teasing me I just remind them I have the air soft gun upstairs in my room, although I wouldn’t shoot them. My sisters think I should get grounded if I do shoot them, so I don’t shoot them.
That Christmas was very fun. I love my water dragon, my new Guitar Hero 3, and my ak-47 air soft gun. Next year I hope will be even better. The presents this year were great, and my siblings liked there’s too. I can’t wait until next year.
The Craziest Time of Year
By Cory
What is the craziest time of the year? Christmas of course, it’s busy, very, very busy. Some people go nuts with shopping for presents. And hoping what they got for someone is just right especially if that person doesn’t tell you what they want or their just hard to get things for.
This year on Christmas however my little brother went buzzerk when he saw all the presents under the tree. He does it every year but this year he wouldn’t stop talking about hoping to get some thing or another (during that time it’s hard to think because he keeps asking what you hope is in your biggest present). He blabbers on about what he’s going to get. It gets very annoying.
This year for Christmas I got a new cell phone. It was the best gift I ever got. It is black with silver trim and gets good reception anywhere I go, so I can talk to anyone anywhere I want to. It also comes with this weird little game called blox .and a place to buy backgrounds. But yet you can’t go through music sections like most cell phones can. I don’t think I could’ve gotten anything better then it.
I also got a CD player for Christmas, even though I asked for a MP3 player. At least I got something that plays music. This CD player is black on top black on the bottom and silver in the middle with some buttons I don’t know how to use, or what they do for that matter. It’s really good for travel. Plus it’s really good when it comes to battery life.
Plus I got a sweat shirt. In this weather it’s perfect. It is tan with a deer in the middle of a cool design. It’s the usual kind of thing that I would get from my grandma and grandpa Davis. They say that my brother and I need more clothes and better clothes than what we think is cool (my grandma thinks she has to spoil us and make sure what she gets us is really, really expensive, frankly I don’t care how much it costs as long as it looks good and will last long.
Excited gift shoppers blowing all their money and the craziest time of year. Most really are happy that Christmas is here. With those things, ya Christmas’s are crazy. And that’s why we all love Christmas.
