Some of our past units ---
Middle School
Cardiovascular activities - woking the heart and lungs and learning to have fun all at the same time.
Did you know that there are other ways of "getting in shape" beside running. Your body wants you to exercise your muscles - you can do this in many different ways --- scooping snow, raking leaves, chasing your brothers/sisters or the dog, hunting, cleaning the house ... the list goes on and on! No matter how you exercise remember you to get your heart beating at a faster pace and keep it elevated for 20 minutes or more ... your heart will thank you!!
Kickball - the indoor version of baseball/softball minus the bat! We are just starting a unit using many of the skills of the American Summer stickball. Students will learn the base runnig rules and procedures similar to baseball and softball. We work on find the the forced out and working together to get back in the dugout. Terms like offense, defense, pop fly, tagging up, double play, tie goes to the runner and 2 outs - forced runners run on anything are discussed and applied during classes.
6th Grade --- Volleyball Beachball Style
Beach Volleyball, minus the sand of course is our current unit for 6th grade. We are working on the rules of ball handling and the new Rally scoring system. Our next unit will be Jump Rope and how we can affect our heart rate with a little bit of exercise.
We are also finishing our first round of Fitness testing - the tests that we are conducting are - sit-ups, push-ups, sit and reach, agility run and the mile run/walk. These tests help the kids see how working hard in class will help build the components of Health, Physical Fitness and Wellness.
7th and 8th Grade - Football
Football - every girl needs a least a little knowledge of the game of football, right? These grades are learning the basis of Americian style football. We are working on the passing, catching and punting. We will play flag football to demonstrate our knowledge and skills of football. Dress warm girls football is an outdoor sport!
Once again we will be doing the Presidential Fitness testing - the tests that we will be conducting this year are - sit-ups, push-ups, sit and reach, agility run and the mile run/walk. These tests help the kids see how working hard in class will help build the components of Health, Physical Fitness and Wellness
6h grade - wear comfortable clothes to school the day of PE and clean tennis shoes (we have a brand new gym floor - yeah!!)
