Sports Literature

Lisa's Lou Gehrig:

This is a survey course that examines sports as a metaphor for life.

Students read from an anthology that encompasses a variety of forms of literature.  Poetry, short stories, and non-fiction essays are studied in conjunction with a various sports--everything from swimming to baseball to gymnastics featuring sports stars such as baseball's Jackie Robinson,  basketball's Bill Bradley and America's Lou Gehrig.  In addition, students choose a sports literature book to read independently.

This course is offered first semester with Mrs. Phillips and second semester with Mr. Garner.
